Better Light, Lower Bills — Industrial LED Across Cork

Haven Electrical install industrial LED lighting systems for factories, warehouses, distribution centres, and large commercial premises across Cork City and County. We carry out proper lighting design — calculating lux levels to the relevant standard for your work area, selecting the right fittings for the mounting height and environment, and laying out the installation for uniform coverage. We’re experienced in working at height in industrial buildings, in cold stores and food production environments, and in hazardous areas. All industrial lighting work is RECI certified. Typical energy savings on LED retrofits from metal halide or T5 fluorescent are 50–70%.

Why Cork Businesses Choose Haven Electrical

Design Before Install

We don’t just replace old fittings with LED equivalents. We design the lighting layout for the correct lux levels in each work area, which often means fewer, better-positioned fittings.

Real Energy Savings

LED high-bay retrofits for Cork factories and warehouses typically cut lighting energy consumption by 50–70%. For high-usage premises, this means thousands of euro in annual savings.

Industrial Environment Experience

We’ve worked in food production environments, cold stores, dusty workshops, and chemical processing facilities. We select fittings with the right IP and IK ratings for the environment.

Fast Programme Delivery

Most industrial lighting retrofits can be phased to avoid production shutdowns. We plan the programme and deliver it.

Industrial Lighting FAQs

High-bay fittings are designed for mounting at heights typically above 6–8 metres. They produce a narrow, concentrated beam angle to direct light down to the working plane efficiently. Below 6 metres, low-bay fittings or commercial panel lights are usually more appropriate. For a standard warehouse or factory with 8–12 metre eaves, LED high-bay fittings in the 100–200W range are typically used.
The CIBSE recommendations for common industrial areas are: general warehouse storage 100–150 lux; picking aisles 200–300 lux; manufacturing assembly 300–500 lux; fine assembly work 500–750 lux; inspection areas 750–1000 lux or more. Different areas in the same building often need different lighting levels. We calculate this properly during the lighting design stage.
The savings depend on your current installation, operating hours, and electricity tariff. As a rough guide: replacing 250W metal halide high-bays with 100W LED equivalents cuts the lighting wattage by 60%. For a warehouse with 40 fittings running 10 hours per day, 250 days per year at €0.20/kWh, that’s a saving of around €6,000 per year. We carry out proper calculations for your specific installation before the project starts.
Yes — working at height is a standard part of industrial lighting installation. We use mobile elevated working platforms (MEWPs) for high-bay work and follow current safe working at height regulations including planning, erection, and supervision requirements. We do not use ladders for high-bay work above 5 metres.
We always design the lighting layout as part of an industrial lighting project. Simply replacing old fittings in their existing positions often doesn’t give you the lux levels you need in the right areas. Good lighting design considers the height, spacing, and beam angle of fittings to deliver uniform illumination across the working area. We use lighting design software to model the installation before fitting selection is finalised.
Yes — we install daylight sensors, occupancy sensors, zone switching, and time-of-use controls as part of our industrial lighting installations. For large warehouses, zone control allows areas not currently in use to be dimmed or switched off. Occupancy sensors are particularly effective in areas with intermittent use. Controls can typically add 20–30% additional energy savings on top of the LED fitting savings alone.
Yes — emergency lighting is a legal requirement in all commercial and industrial premises and must be integrated into any lighting project. We design the emergency lighting layout to IS 3217 as part of the overall lighting design, ensure escape routes are correctly illuminated, and test and commission all emergency fittings on completion. Emergency lighting test certificates are issued as part of the project documentation.
Yes — phased delivery is standard practice for industrial lighting retrofits in live production environments. We identify which areas can be lit from alternative sources during the changeover, phase the work by bay or zone, and schedule any planned outages to fall outside production hours. For most industrial buildings, a complete high-bay retrofit can be completed in phases with minimal impact on operations.
